"I created the series 'From the Refugees Series' influenced by the news that we witness from time to time. News that tells of refugee boats sinking in the seas; news that depicts children, women, and men who, in the hope of achieving a better life, risk their lives on dangerous journeys, sometimes losing their lives along the way. In this collection, I have tried to use cold colors and abstract forms to depict the turbulence of the waves and the dangers of these deadly journeys. Each of these works reflects the despair, fear, and endless struggle of refugees seeking a way to survive amidst the waves. With these works, I want to remind people that this humanitarian disaster is still ongoing and to be the voice for those whose voices are no longer heard. These works are an invitation to reflect, empathize, and become aware of the global refugee crisis. I hope each of these paintings tells a story that resonates with the viewer and prompts them to think."
