A fascinating medieval painting in the style of Maestro dei Cassoni di Jarves, LIMBOURG BROTHERS, Rogier van der Weyden and Domenico di Bartolo, depicting a noble lady of 15th century Burgundy. Under a white transparent veil on the woman’s head is placed the “Escoffion hennin”: two wide, gold, decorated cones on the sides of the head, in which the hair and ears are placed. The cones are covered with a white veil, which falls gracefully over her face and back. On her arms the woman wears ermine. The background is a dark medieval interior, filled with richly decorated furniture and lit by soft candlelight. The overall composition is reminiscent of a medieval codex or illuminated manuscript, with intricate details and rich colors typical of the works of Hans Memling, Lucas Cranach the Elder and Michael Pacher
